Live magazine lands yet another prize at One World Media Awards
Live magazine's Dan McDougall won Journalist of the Year at this week's highly-respected One World Media Awards. The awards, hosted by Channel 4 News anchorman Jon Snow, highlight the year's strongest reporting of the developing world.
The judges said that McDougall's work ‘demonstrated investigative and journalistic skills of the highest level' and they praised his ability to ‘clearly communicate how the actions of the world's rich impact upon the lives of the world's poor'.

Sunday Times Africa correspondent named Journalist of the Year at One World Media Awards
Dan McDougall, Africa correspondent for the Sunday Times, was named Journalist of the Year at last night's One World Media Awards.

BBC score One World hat-trick
The BBC scooped a hat-trick of prizes at last night's One World Media Awards - recognising excellence in media coverage of the developing world.
The popular features award went to Tuna, the first programme in BBC3's Blood, Sweat & Takeaways series, which exposed the realities of Indonesia's fishing industry.

Since its beginnings, cinema has been pulled between the desire to entertainment and to instruct. Every film is arguably on some level political with a small ‘p', often promulgating an increasingly narrow and homogenous view of the world.

Bechis honoured at One World Media Awards
Greta Scacchi presented the Chilean film-maker with the drama award for Birdwatchers.
Chilean film-maker Marco Bechis picked up the drama award at this year's One World Media Awards for his feature Birdwatchers, which follows an indigenous tribe in Brazil.
Actress Greta Scacchi presented the director with his prize at the ceremony, which took place in London this evening (22nd). The awards, which have been running since 1988, recognize excellence in media coverage of the developing world.

Greta Scacchi revels in her happiest role yet: environmental campaigner
Greta Scacchi is urging fellow stars to step up and campaign for causes they believe in, regardless of any criticism they may receive. The actress, who last year promoted End of the Line, an influential documentary about over-fishing, by posing nude with a cod, says that she is delighted to have found a useful public role.
The actress, who lives in Sussex with her husband and two children, was also one of the judges for One World Media's drama awards. She believes fiction is one of the best ways of broadening understanding. "It is a most effective and moving way of learning about other people's lives and struggles," she said...
