The One World Media Fellowship Scheme brings a group of senior broadcasters from the developing world to the UK for a two-week fellowship every year. During this time they meet a range of media figures to learn about the media scene in the UK, and to share their own perspective on the role of the media in their countries and around the world.

The Fellowship Scheme is all about exchange. It promotes exchange between broadcasters in the UK and developing countries, giving them an opportunity to discuss how media can contribute to democracy and fair government.

It also encourages exchange between broadcasters in developing countries, who can discuss how best to tackle the challenges they face in their work.

Since 1996, the fellowship scheme has involved over 60 senior broadcasters from over 25 countries. Each year it brings them into contact with a host of leading figures from the UK media industry.

The fellowship scheme takes place every October, while applications open every July. If you're interested in applying for the fellowship, please click here to find out more.

One World also runs specialised Fellowship Schemes, including - most recently - a scheme aimed at journalists reporting on climate change. Click here to learn more about the 2009 Climate Change Fellowships for journalists from China.

"I have learnt a lot from other participants’ experiences. We have shared issues affecting the media in our countries and also advised one another on how to overcome some of the challenges and frustrations in our work environments."
