One World Media Festival: Creating Global Conversations
Thanks to a grant from the Bertha Foundation, One World Media hosted its first festival in association with Open City Docs at University College London. We welcomed almost 1000 people over two days of lively debates, film screenings and presentations.
Click the image below to listen to the SOAS Radio podcast discussing the aims of the event with Festival director, Mick Csáky, comedy writer Jane Bussmann and journalist/filmmaker Sorious Samura:
Topics discussed include; how new media can empower the poorer members of society? how to get more local reporters from foreign locations onto our TV screens, on radio and in print in the UK and throughout the developed world? how to better report on the new and emerging Africa, without resorting to bygone clichés? how media can change the world for the better?
JT Live Radio, an online community radio station based in Accra, joined the conversation via phone and comments from twitter were also discussed.

Videos of the panel discussions will be available soon. Please check back for more details.
