The One World Media Fund is an initiative aimed at media professionals at an early stage in their career. It will make funding available so they can cover a story in a developing country. The goal is to promote engagement with international development, through supporting new voices in the UK media.

Why the fund?

There are plenty of emerging journalists and filmmakers who want to report on international development issues - perhaps through in-depth feature articles, observational documentary, or an investigative radio report. And yet, it's all too clear that there are few opportunities to get practical experience reporting on the ground in a developing country.

One World Media aims to assist these new professionals to make high-quality content about the developing world.

Current status

The Fund is currently supporting students as part of the One World Student Media Programme, which is running workshops and other activities for journalism and documentary filmmaking students, and making modest bursaries available so they can report overseas as part of their course.

We are hoping to expand the remit of the fund over the coming months - please check here for further updates, or subscribe to our newsletter (right).
