Announcing OWM’s new Director

We are thrilled to welcome our new Director, Vivienne Francis.

The Director’s position at One World Media was a tough role to fill. But our Board of Trustees has made their decision. Vivienne Francis will be starting at One World Media in early 2024, leading the organisation towards creating greater impact.

Commenting on the appointment, Chair of OWM’s Board, Samir Shah says,

“I’m delighted to welcome Vivienne Francis as the new Director of One World Media. Vivienne’s background in the media industry, academia and international journalism will be of great value to OWM. I and the Board of Trustees look forward to Vivienne leading the organisation as it grows and evolves to meet the needs of our global community of storytellers.”

Vivienne was most recently a senior academic in Journalism at the University of the Arts London where she founded an award-winning initiative, The Refugee Journalism Project, supporting exiled media professionals to rebuild their careers in the UK. This work led to collaborations with global media organisations and international agencies, including UNHCR, Bloomberg, The Guardian Foundation, and the Council of Europe. Before academia, Vivienne was a current affairs producer at the BBC and a print journalist. She holds a Doctorate in Professional Studies by Public Works. Her thesis critiques the use of a social justice approach in journalistic practices.
