The One World Media Awards will open for entries on 12th January!
Open to journalists and filmmakers globally, the awards celebrate the year’s best media coverage of underreported stories from around the world.
This year, we are thrilled to also announce a new award category, the Women Entrepreneurs Reporting Award! In partnership with The European Investment Bank, this award will spotlight media that explores women’s entrepreneurship in the global south.
Marjut Falkstedt, Secretary General of the European Investment Bank commented, “We are extremely proud to be backing this new One World Media award for excellent media coverage of female entrepreneurship. We, at the European Investment Bank, the public bank of the European Union, believe that female entrepreneurship, particularly in the Global South, can provide important solutions to many of the challenges we face in society today.”
This award hopes to showcase stories of successful female entrepreneurs, the challenges women face in trying to grow their businesses, and the critical role that women entrepreneurs play in economic development by boosting growth and creating jobs.
“Investing in women entrepreneurs is particularly important these days as early trends already indicate that COVID-19 response packages are not always reaching women entrepreneurs who are more likely to be solo entrepreneurs or self-employed. I hope this award will help to raise awareness of this as well as the magnificent contribution women are making to their communities and economies as a whole,” added Falkstedt.
