Statement on One World Media Leadership

One World Media wishes to share an update about the leadership of the organisation.

We are pleased to announce that Catherine McCarthy, current Trustee on the Board, has been appointed as the new Chair, taking over from Peter Horrocks effective from April 2026.

Catherine brings 25 years of senior experience in public service broadcasting, including commissioning and editorial leadership at the BBC, where she led award-winning television and social action projects reaching millions of people worldwide. Later, as a CEO of an innovative nonprofit, she developed digital health solutions and forged major global partnerships, driven by a commitment to use media to address inequality in underserved communities. We look forward to the vision and leadership she will bring to One World Media.

We also extend our sincere thanks to Peter Horrocks for his steady and dedicated stewardship as Chair.

It is also with both gratitude and sadness that we announce that Vivienne Francis has made the decision to conclude her tenure as One World Media Director to consult on independent projects and programmes and continue with her Senior Lectureship role at the University of the Arts London. In her two years leading the organisation, Vivienne oversaw a strategic restructuring to position the organisation for expansion and new partnerships, and grew our celebrated  awards programme, strengthening One World Media’s reach and reputation globally. We wish her every success in her next chapter.

An interim Director will be announced in the next few weeks.
